Hollywood Bowl
The Hollywood Bowl was a “hit” from its very first season in 1922, and it’s my favorite outdoor concert venue. Some nights the ambiance outperforms the artists, as concert-goers arrive early to enjoy a picnic on the grounds before the music begins.
Right now, they’re selling season subscriptions and in March, you’ll be able to buy tickets to 5 or more concerts of your choice. After that, tickets to individual performances go on sale, but it’s not too early to start picking out your concert and making plans.

Camping This Summer? Reserve Your Spot Now
Campgrounds at California’s best national and state parks fill up early, so even if it’s still cold outside, it’s not too early to start planning your summer camping trips. In fact, to get the best spots for mid-summer, you should start reserving very soon.
National Park camping reservations can be made six months in advance. Their website provides a one-stop service for reserving camping, tours, day use, cabins and more.
California State Parks accept online reservations six months ahead, and you should be reserving now for trips in August. Use the California state park reservation guide to find out how to do it.

Pageant of the Masters
Now is a good time to start thinking about getting seats for this summer’s Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. The best seats may already be nearly sold out for performances starting in July, so as hard as it may be to figure out what your schedule will be months from now, it’s time to act.
This annual festival features an amazing feat of fool-the-eye realism as real people pose to look exactly like their counterparts in recreations of original art pieces, but don’t dismiss it as boring. The eye-popping special effects they achieve with lighting fool the eye so well that even though you just saw a three-dimensional human, you’ll swear they’ve gone completely flat in the blink of an eye.
